Interviews at ESSEC, seen side Jury Hello,
Last week, I was a member of a jury to get interviews at ESSEC personality. I think this experience can be interesting for you, both in terms of instructions / recommendations to the jury that what the candidates have said good and less good. Do not worry, no names will be mentioned here.
Recommendations to the Jury
Each juror receives in advance a document explaining all the entrance exams, and more specifically objectives of the interview. The document emphasizes the intention to ease the candidate, so he can run in the best possible conditions, and not the trap. This includes understanding what motivates the student to know whether to build on the education received at ESSEC. The school has been practicing for many years a policy of openness about all the profiles of candidates, although some characters may be more popular: this is what has rained more or less my jury.
Back Experience
First, two traits help a lot in maintenance:
- the enthusiasm, pleasure to be here and tell us your experiences. My question on the subject (not that trap, it seems to me) was "we're talking about a book you've read recently that you liked." For me, this is part of the overarching themes to prepare for an interview personality, especially when it is said to want to work in culture. It was rather a question designed to encourage candidates to talk passionately about something. If there really is no one book you want to speak, you also have the right to say: "Actually, I'd rather tell you about this movie I thought it was fantastic, and I advise you for one reason or another ..." (Or else)
Revelation Warning! - If you're interested in anything in life, you may unfortunately miss your interview.
- the consistency. OK, you're (very) stressed. We, the jury, do our best not to add more and make you spend time (not too dis-) friendly. However, it is not acceptable to hear everything and its opposite. Any opinion can be defended during the interview ESSEC. But you are solely responsible for your words. Once you have chosen a course, try to stick to it. You're not supposed to have all the answers, you just asked to present what you do, what you are, and to be honest .
- Finally, ESSEC has for many years for entrepreneurship. If you have a project you love, you would realize, do not hesitate to talk about maintenance. Candidates "entrepreneurs" have thoroughly enjoyed my jury. If you do not really want to make your own box, not a problem either. Just try, as if you met new people to dinner, to show that you know carry an interesting conversation, give us a good time.
There is no pass mark for the maintenance of personality, but given its very important factor, given the success chances of being admitted.
